FINAL GIRL Mention in Moviebytes Interview

I just found this old interview after Steve and I won a script contest with POACH

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Alejandro Seri

An interview with screenwriter Alejandro Seri regarding the Hollywood Scriptwriting Writing Competition.

Q: What’s the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what’s it about?

A: Poach (A.K.A. – Flow), by Alejandro Seri & Steve Scarlata. Deep in the underworld of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, two brothers wage all out war against poachers, Japanese Gangsters and crooked park rangers as they hunt the rare Matsutake Mushroom.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: Alejandro won this contest a couple of years ago with “Sun and Shadow”. “Poach” is a RECOMMENDED” Action-Thriller by Script P.I.M.P. and a 1/4 Finalist in the Fade In Script Contest. It was developed through ScriptXpert Coverage Service.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Yes. Steve got the Script Magazine subscription in our coin toss & loves it. Alejandro does steal it from Steve’s bathroom whenever he goes over to write.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: Basic one page coverage. We feel that any feedback on a script helps.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: Having the contest placings and the “Recommend” status helps tremendously when sending out queries. We are hoping that it will continue to help when we pitch at the next L.A. Take A Meeting event. Hopefully we will find an executive interested in this low budget Action-Thriller.

Q: What’s your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: Alejandro Seri is a festival-winning feature film director and an award-winning screenwriter. He has written 18 scripts to date. Steve has co-written 4 screenplays with Alejandro. His feature doc, N.Y.H.C., has played in many festivals around the world.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: Our homes and viral video production company, Viral Vector Media, are based int he San Fernando Valley.

Q: What’s next? Are you working on a new script?

A: We are getting ready to shop our low budget female-driven Horror script, “Final Girl” and a couple of developed webisodics.
